関係代名詞は 2つの文をつなげて1文にする便利な接着剤！

① 人を説明するとき → who

• This is the girl. She is my sister.
  　→ This is the girl who is my sister.
  　（この子が私の妹です。）
• I know the man. He is playing the guitar.
  　→ I know the man who is playing the guitar.
  　（私はギターを弾いているその男性を知っています。）

👉 「whoの後ろ」は「説明の文」が入る！

② 物・動物を説明するとき → which

• This is the book. It is very interesting.
  　→ This is the book which is very interesting.
  　（これはとても面白い本です。）
• I like the dog. It is running in the park.
  　→ I like the dog which is running in the park.
  　（私は公園で走っているその犬が好きです。）

③ 人・物どちらもOK → that

👉 who / which の代わりに使える！

• This is the book that I bought yesterday.
  　（これは私が昨日買った本です。）
• He is the boy that plays soccer well.
  　（彼はサッカーが上手な少年です。）

💡 会話では「that」のほうがよく使われます。

④ 関係代名詞が目的語のとき → 省略できる！

• This is the book (which) I like.
  　（これは私が好きな本です。）
  👉 which を省略してもOK！
• The man (who) I met yesterday is kind.
  　（昨日会った男性は優しいです。）

⑤ 前置詞と一緒に使うとき

• This is the house in which he lives.
  　（ここが彼の住んでいる家です。）
  👉 試験では in which などフォーマル表現も要注意！
